Kauai South Shore - PoipuIsland of Kauai
What To See - Kalaheo
Kukuiolono Park. Above the small town of Kalaheo lies this beautiful park adjacent to the Kukuilono Golf Course. Kukuilono means “light of the god Lono” in Hawaiian. There’s a walking loop about one mile long that goes through a lava rock garden, a Hawaiian garden and a beautiful Japanese garden with a stone footbridge, sculptures, bonsai trees and fountains overgrown with plants. There are ironwood and eucalyptus trees around the trail. And there are those darn chickens again! You can stop and take in the beautiful scenic views. Kukuilono Park is a very romantic spot for a picnic. Park hours are daily from 7 am-6 pm. The gates close to cars promptly at 6:30. For more information, call _ 808-332-9151. The park is on Papalina Road in Kalaheo.
