Shopping Center, Kapa`a,
808-823-8222, www.kcdm.org.
Open Tuesday-Saturday 10 am-5 pm. Admission: adults $5, children $4. Everyone
from keiki to adults will appreciate this non-profit museum. This is a
place where you can bring the whole family. There’s something for
everyone here. Kids can visit the StarLab Planetarium, learn about marine
life, or take part in ongoing education programs. There’s an area
for kids to run, climb and jump, put on costumes, bowl, pretend, and have
fun. There’s also a Cultural Village, which features kid-sized houses
representing Japan, Polynesia, China and the Philippines. Exhibits and
programs change frequently, so call the museum for the latest programs.
King Kong’s Profile. Driving north along Kuhio
Highway, just past mile marker 16, look back you’ll see a mountain
that bears a striking resemblance to King Kong. Did you know that the
1976 King Kong movie remake was filmed on Kaua`i?
